HOW TO: Protect Your Hair from the Summer Sun!

Texas Summers (and even Spring!) get EXTREMELY HOT! Whenever you’re out in the summer sun it can not only damage your skin, but it can damage your hair!

The summer heat can really dry out your hair, try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner whenever you wash your hair! A great shampoo to use would be Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco shampoo/conditioner, and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration shampoo/conditioner. You should try to wash your hair every other day or longer because it actually dries out your hair even more when you wash it everyday! The natural oils in your don’t get a chance to work all the way down to the ends of your hair when you wash it everyday!

Next is a great hair masque! My favorites are the Fekkai Shea Butter Masque, and Aussie Three Minute Miracle. I actually think the Aussie one works best, but I really like the Fekkai one too! Giving your hair a deep conditioning is the perfect pick me up when your hair is dry. It leaves your hair so soft and bouncy and you’ll have a great hair day for the next couple of days!

The next step to quenching your summer thirsty hair is a great leave in conditioner. I really like the Wella Brilliance leave in balm and the L’Oreal EverCreme Nourishing Leave In Conditioner . Wella can be a little tricky to hunt down sometimes, but I always find it at Ulta, and sometimes Walgreens!

Something to keep in your beach bag, or pool bag that’ll save your hair is hair oil! My favorite is the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment, Moroccan Argan Oil, and just the original Moroccan Oil! Being in salt water, or chlorinated water can do some SERIOUS damage to your ends and make them really brittle. It’s a major life saver to keep some hair oil in your bag to really save your ends! A little goes a long way with hair oils so be sure to keep that in mind!

Now, you can do all these steps if you have dry or damaged hair all year round, but the sun’s heat can dry out your hair so much more than it already is, so you really need to protect your beautiful locks!

A great line of hair products specifically for the sun is Redken Color Extend Sun
it has shampoo/conditioner, mask, hair oil, leave in conditioner, and even a sunscreen! It's a great line to try if you really want to be fully protected! You can find it at Ulta, salons, or Amazon! Basically anywhere where Redken is sold!

For extra protection, throw on your favorite hat!

And don’t forget to put sunscreen on your scalp!

I hope I helped you get some extra tips to prepare yourself for the summer! Even though it gets up to 110 degrees during the summer, it’s still my favorite time of year! Take care of your hair and skin during the spring and summer months!

REVIEW! Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation!

The past couple months I have been trying A LOT of new make-up, some I love and some I absolutely hated! Haha

I had a coupon to try out the new Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation, which claims to be a primer, concealer, and a foundation all in one.

When I first tried this I hated it! I thought it was too cakey and the finish was VERY matte and powdery. What was weird was, I always go for a matte finish, but this finish was too matte for me! Even though I hated this product, I kept hearing such great things about it! I shoved it in my foundation drawer of my make-up collection and didn’t even think about it, but I STILL kept hearing how awesome it was!

I decided to try it out again, and use it with a damp Beauty Blender (or just a damp sponge would do) and only apply one layer of foundation and it looked SOOO GOOD!! It made me look very flawless and not cakey or too matte! It gave me great coverage and lasted all day without looking gross after an all daywear like it had the time before.

So if you were looking for a longwearing foundation that has a matte, full coverage finish I would try this one! Now because this foundation can get really cakey pretty easily, I suggest using one layer with a light hand! The best way to apply this foundation would be with your fingers, a damp sponge, or a buffing brush with a light hand!

I still wear a primer and concealer with this foundation and it just helps extend the longevity of this foundation. And for concealer, well, I can’t imagine going a day without concealer so I had to use some! Haha

I give this foundation two thumbs up! You can get this foundation at Target for $10!

I hope you try out this foundation and learn to love it as much as I do!

March Favorites!!

It’s that time again for my monthly favorites! I tried out a lot of new products in the month of March, some were duds, and some I completely fell in love with!

I have two eye shadow palettes that I have been constantly using in the month of March.

The first one is the Wet and Wild Comfort Zone palette. This palette is so versatile. All the colors in this palette are very beautiful and pigmented. It’s really easy to go from day to night with the palette! Plus the $5 price tag makes me love it so much more!

The second one is NARS And God Created the Woman palette. This palette comes with six eye shadows, an eye shadow brush, and an eye shadow primer. The shadows in this palette are classic NARS eye shadows that are very pigmented and easy to wear. This is a pricier palette-$59 bucks! (My fiancé Kris surprised me with this as a just because present!)

I was on the hunt for this product most of the month of March and I finally found it on sale at Ulta for $7! It’s the Alma Pineapple Enzyme Hawaiian Facial Scrub. It smells like your on vacation and leaves your skin feeling soft and bright. It was totally worth the wait (and the sale!).

My favorite lipstick for the month is a bright, bold one! It’s MAC Viva Glam Nicki. Now this one came out a while ago, and if you’re wondering, it’s the first one that came out, not the second one! It’s a bright bubblegum Barbie pink that I love for spring. If you are not crazy about bright lips then you won’t like this one! You can get it for $15 at any MAC counter/store.

My favorite mascara for the month was Maybelline The Rocket. This might be my new favorite drugstore mascara! It gives you such great length and volume with only two coats. It’s buildable and doesn’t clump or smudge. I got mine at Target for about $6.50.

I got really tired of a powdery finish on my skin this month and I really wanted something to make me look a little dewy, but not shiny. I picked up NYX’s cream blush in Tickled at Ulta for $4! and completely fell in love with it. It’s a bright coral with gold shimmer and doesn’t make me look overly dewy or oily. It gives me a glow that I could never achieve
with a powder blush.

Basically the only nail polish I wore for the month of March was Essie’s Clambake. Now I found this little gem on sale for $3!!!!!! At H-E-B and I know that was just sheer luck because I saw it at Ulta for full price the other day. It’s a really pretty orangey-red shade that looks so beautiful on the nails!

My last favorite was a gift from my future sister-in-law! It’s Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity hairspray. This is a really flexible hold hairspray.  It doesn’t leave your hair crunchy and keeps whatever you’re trying to control in place all day! I saw this hairspray in store for about $16 and I saw it online for $19, so I’m not 100% sure what the actual retail price is! Sorry!

So those were my March favorites! I hope you try some of them out and love them as much as I do!
