Texas Summers (and even Spring!) get EXTREMELY HOT! Whenever
you’re out in the summer sun it can not only damage your skin, but it can damage your hair!
The summer heat can really dry out your hair, try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner whenever you wash your hair! A
great shampoo to use would be Bumble and Bumble Creme De Coco shampoo/conditioner, and Herbal Essence Hello
Hydration shampoo/conditioner. You should try to wash your hair every other day
or longer because it actually dries out your hair even more when you wash it
everyday! The natural oils in your don’t get a chance to work all the way down
to the ends of your hair when you wash it everyday!
The next step to quenching your summer thirsty hair is a
great leave in conditioner. I really like the Wella Brilliance leave in balm and the L’Oreal EverCreme Nourishing Leave In Conditioner . Wella can be a little tricky to hunt down sometimes, but I always find it at Ulta, and sometimes Walgreens!
Something to keep in your beach bag, or pool bag that’ll
save your hair is hair oil! My favorite is the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment, Moroccan Argan Oil, and just the original Moroccan Oil! Being
in salt water, or chlorinated water can do some SERIOUS damage to your ends and
make them really brittle. It’s a major life saver to keep some hair oil in your
bag to really save your ends! A little goes a long way with hair oils so be
sure to keep that in mind!
Now, you can do all these steps if you have dry or damaged
hair all year round, but the sun’s heat can dry out your hair so much more than
it already is, so you really need to protect your beautiful locks!
A great line of hair products specifically for the sun is Redken Color Extend Sun
it has shampoo/conditioner, mask, hair oil, leave in conditioner, and even a sunscreen! It's a great line to try if you really want to be fully protected! You can find it at Ulta, salons, or Amazon! Basically anywhere where Redken is sold!
For extra protection, throw on your favorite hat!
And don’t
forget to put sunscreen on your scalp!
I hope I helped you get some extra tips to prepare yourself
for the summer! Even though it gets up to 110 degrees during the summer, it’s
still my favorite time of year! Take care of your hair and skin during the
spring and summer months!
